FENSA – Competence Scheme for Glazing

FENSA is a government authorised Competent Person Scheme for the replacement of windows, doors, roof windows and roof lights in England and Wales against the relevant Building Regulations. They started out in 2002 to provide assurance to homeowners that Building Regulations were adhered to in double glazing companies in England and Wales.

FENSA is the largest and longest established Competent Person Scheme within the replacement window and door industry. Their role is to allow companies to self-certify compliance under the Building Regulations without the need for a separate assessment from Building Control. This means if you use a FENSA member they can sign off any work without the need of local government.

Some advantages of choosing a member of FENSA include – all work comes with an Insurance Backed Guarantee, the members are vetted via independent assessment and the work carried out does not need to be registered with local authorities.

A FENSA member can be identified by a holographic identity card. They offer peace of mind to the homeowner that the work carried out will meet building regulations.
